Michele, E-RYT® 200, RYT® 500, YACEP®, began practicing yoga with video tapes (!) in the mid-1990’s as a complementary practice to aerobics and weight training. When she took her first class at Yoga on High in 2001, she knew she had found a practice for the rest of her life. After a 30-year career as an educator, Michele became a 200-HR Registered Yoga Teacher in 2014 and earned her 500-HR RYT in 2016 with an emphasis in therapeutic yoga. Michele enjoys a wide menu of yoga styles, and although Ashtanga is her primary practice, she also enjoys teaching Hatha, Vinyasa, Restorative and Therapeutic yoga, including Urban Zen Integrated Therapy, and a class designed especially for large bodies. Michele is a certified Urban Zen Integrative Therapist, and she enjoys bringing the healing benefits of yoga to individuals who wouldn’t otherwise have the opportunity, particularly in clinical settings. Michele’s current personal asana practice is designed with plenty of modifications to accommodate her repaired and bionic parts, and she strives to make yoga accessible for everybody and every body, providing individualized instruction and adjustment to meet each student’s needs. She has completed a 300-hour therapeutic yoga program at Yoga on High which included iRest® and trauma sensitive training. When she is not on the mat or leading a class, Michele enjoys designing curriculum, dabbling in the arts in her third-floor studio, maintaining an organic urban garden, cooking and baking, hiking, biking and kayaking with her husband Dana, and spending time with her friends, grandchildren and dogs.
