Heather Hopper believes that "yoga is for every body", regardless of their physical state. Her combination of humor, attention to postures and alignment, openness and honesty, and her sheer love of her students and the practice make her classes fun and accessible. Heather looks forward to the practice of yoga sustaining her for the remainder of her life, and wants to share that with her community.
Heather Hopper was introduced to the practice of yoga in 1997 with a weekly class at the local recreation center. It was a form of exercise that was accessible to her larger body. The fact that she could feel successful in the class had her hooked right away. After a few years of sporadic practice, she became a dedicated practitioner in 2002. In 2006, some of her teachers encouraged her to take a teacher training. Soon, she was teaching after school classes at the private school that employed her as a third grade teacher to both her colleagues and to children. A year later, she began her 200 hour training with Alpha Omega Yoga in Dallas with Sheri Cherokee and Rogelio Chapa. Her love affair with teaching yoga turned into a career… In 2010, Heather left the elementary school classroom to pursue teaching yoga to adults, children and children with special needs and learning differences.
Yoga has changed Heather’s entire outlook on life. Not only did yoga help Heather be a better classroom teacher at the time, but a better colleague, partner, and person. Heather enjoys sharing yoga with a variety of groups and individuals with honesty, humor and love. Today, the practice of yoga makes her a better mother to her son, who is her best teacher.
