Rebecca doesn’t remember when she took her first yoga class. The closest experience to yoga that she can recall is doing “weird stretches on the floor” when she was a kid dancing with the Dontesk Ballet Company in western Maryland. However, she does remember when yoga made such deep impact on her that it changed her life. It all started about six years ago with a 30-day new year yoga challenge—and the rest was history. Subsequently, Rebecca earned her 200- and 300- hour certifications at Longwave Yoga in Wilmington, North Carolina. Currently, she is underway with a second 300-hour training with renowned “teacher’s teacher” Jason Crandell. Rebecca is also certified in Yoga for All, a body-positive approach to teaching yoga to people with diverse bodies and abilities.
With more than 13 years of teaching university-level English, Rebecca has dedicated her life to education, both in the classroom and yoga studio. As such, in her yoga classes, she emphasizes movement and fine alignment as the pathway to inquiry, discovery, and, most importantly, learning. Rebecca believes there is no one-size-fits-all version of yoga. Students can expect options, modifications, and choices that align with the individual student’s needs and abilitiies. But more than anything else, Rebecca passionately believes in having a good time!
